Mediafly offers you numerous ways to create content and several tools may be used to help you optimize the content creation experience for your users.
Templates, Document Builder, and Collections are used to create personalized items that can be used for a variety of purposes. Knowing what item type to use will allow users to effectively maximize content creation.

Templates
Creating templates allow you to provide a guide for your team that represents the style that users can use and build on for their future presentations.
Templates are item types that are generally created outside of the Mediafly environment. (Users can create it with PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc.)
Once created, templates are uploaded into the environment. Users can mark the item as a template. Check the Creating personalized content using a Template article to learn more about setting an item as a template, and how to use the base template for the creation of new files.
Templates should contain the consistent style, branding, logos, that a company uses so that users who want to create and present presentations can pick up the template as base format and layout for their own content. Example A template slide deck may be created to have titles, bullet points, and a layout for the talking points so that the company's tone and branding are consistently reflected.
Collection
A Collection is a personal playlist of content you can create that includes different files from different locations in the app. You can create multiple collections, save for offline viewing, and share them with prospects or customers. Collections ensure your presentations are engaging and dynamic. Unlike Templates, Collections are designed for you to pull in various resources and presentation and gather them in a single place. You can personalize the presentation, but is designed to only have light editing as it's acting as a curation of content, not a template.
Collections are best used to reorder and combine various docs within the environment and easily create a singe presentation using different pieces of content.

What if a collaborator doesn't have permissions to an item(s) in a collection they are viewing?
Collaborators viewing a collection that do not have permissions to an item(s) in the collection:
- Cannot drag & drop items to re-order the collection.
- The collaborator can drag & drop when adding new items as new items always go at the end of the collection.
- The item to which the collaborator does not have permissions will still have a card, but
-
the pages will be collapsed and the collaborator will not be able to expand them,
-
a default icon will be shown rather than the thumbnail available to collaborator with permissions to the item.
-
-
If the collaborator is the collection owner, they should be allowed to remove the item from the collection.
-
If the collaborator is not the collection owner, a message will appear to:
-
list the item titles they don’t have permissions to,
-
tell the user to contact the collection owner or their administrator for access,
-
Document Builder
Document Builder allows you to pool all resources by the categories defined in the environment so that you can gather all relevant documents and other content available for quick access. While collections is accessible and shareable directly from the Mediafly environment, Document Builder is used to 'create' the file so that it can be used.
